Wig Craft
Wig Craft was founded with the idea of sensitivity to the patient in mind. Our owner, Ray, has worked with wigs for over 50 years. He volunteered 14 years with American Cancer Society, and helped start the “Look Good, Feel Better” program in Bergen county. Our specialists Ginny, Linda, Michelle, and Penny (licensed hairdressers) have extensive knowledge and experience with hair loss requiring a Cranial Prosthesis (a/k/a wig). We offer both synthetic and human hair, each of which has its advantages (more info page coming soon).
Consultation
We schedule one hour, private consultation appointments. Your Wig Craft specialist will have plenty of time to help you try on and decide from the many different styles, cap sizes, and color options available. We then custom order your exact piece to arrive within one week, immediately, or put it “on hold” until you call us. Walk-in appointments for Wig Craft are available only by chance, as our staff are also working hairstylists next door in Hair Craft Studio.

Chemotherapy
If you are starting chemotherapy treatment, we recommend coming in beforehand, allowing plenty of time to make decisions without so much pressure. If you’re not ready to decide, never fear! You are adjusting to a lot right now. We are always here for you and can answer any questions you may have. However, if time is of the essence, we are able to rush ship /overnight orders, or you may find a piece you like in our extensive inventory.
Pick Up Appointment
Once your wig has arrived at our salon, we will call you to schedule a half-hour pick up appointment. There, your specialist will fit you, making adjustments where needed- a little off the fringe, thin it out a little. If necessary , they will even take in (trim and sew) cap areas that require customizing your fit even further. They’ll show you how to wear and care for your ‘new look’, answer any questions you may have, and send you off with instructions and a complimentary wig stand. You can always stop in or call the salon if any questions pop up.

Insurance
You will submit a copy of your Wig Craft receipt and prescription to your insurance company. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance company and verify what they will reimburse you for your wig. Some cover a small amount, some will completely cover one or even two wigs, some cover nothing at all. You may need a preauthorization over a certain amount. Keep a copy of your coverage printed out so there are no surprises later. Also, make sure your prescription reads “Cranial Hair Prosthesis,” with code, because insurance may deem another diagnosis as Not Medically Necessary.
Please bring a copy of your medical prescription (or we will make a copy for you) so that we may waive N.J. state sales tax.

Fine Print
Call Hair Craft Studio (or stop in) to book an appointment for Wig Craft. We understand making appointments are difficult for those going through treatment. If you’re having a good day, don’t hesitate to call us last minute….and we understand rescheduling if you’re having a “not good” day.
We require a deposit for all orders. We can not accept returns or exchanges of our wigs due to their personal, sanitary nature; and New Jersey’s strict laws regarding sales of hygienic items.
Sorry, we do not carry wigs for Halloween or costume.
